The title of “Don” was a badge but not of nobility, since it was also used by people of the civil class and was granted to many non-nobles and without bringing nobility. The “Don” is nothing more than an honorary title, a recognition of the social and economic position achieved; the title was mostly paid. The honor market is an unstoppable desire for distinction!The title (often abused) subsequently took, in common language and placed before the name, the value of respect in addressing a person.

Il titolo di “Don” fu  un distintivo dei nobili ma non di nobiltà, poiché l’usavano anche le persone del ceto civile e veniva concesso a molti non nobili e senza che portasse nobiltà.

Il “Don” non è altro che un titolo onorifico, un riconoscimento della posizione sociale ed economica raggiunta; il titolo era perlopiù a pagamento.
