The Winter Sea in Sicily // Mare d’Inverno in Sicilia
It’s hot, 18 degrees, I loosen the scarf a little. Children play and chase each other around the town square, without jackets. People walk smiling on the pier, someone comes to the beach, to touch the waves that break gently on the shore. In the packed bars, people compete to offer a coffee … or an ice cream (yes, an ice cream!).
The weather here is slow … there is no hurry. We like to savor intensely the moments of everyday extraordinary.
Let’s look at the sea, walk on its beautiful beaches. And looking at this winter sea, we still get excited like children …
Fa caldo, 18 gradi, allento un po’ la sciarpa. I bambini giocano e si rincorrono per la piazza del paese, senza giubbini. La gente passeggia sorridente sul molo, qualcuno arriva fino alla spiaggia, a sfiorare le onde che si infrangono dolcemente sulla battigia. Nei bar strapieni, la gente fa a gara per offrirsi un caffè…o un gelato (si, un gelato!).
Il tempo qui scorre lento…non c’è fretta. Ci piace assaporare con intensità gli attimi di quotidiana straordinarietà.
Andiamo a guardare il Mare, a passeggiare sulle sue splendide spiagge. E guardando questo mare d’inverno, ci emozioniamo ancora come bambini…
